Hi all! I have not been very active in this forum, well, any forum. But I wanted to say HI and introduce myself, as well as to point out a few books arent usually wishlisted, but might help in homeschooling.

I have been a stay home mom of 2 boys, ages 11 and 8 for 3 years now. I will be homeschooling my 6th grader starting this year. We are an Army family, and military schools are EXCELLENT. However, my son is aging out of the elementary schools on post and would have to attend public school for 7th grade. We would have begun homeschooling at that point, but heck, why not start now? We dont make a whole heck of alot of money, so after scouring Goodwills, paperbackswap.com, and yard sales, I have come up with a wonderful curriculum that we are BOTH excited about! We have a 6th grade science text, but supplemented with texts in Oceanography and Astronomy (per his request), sign language, language arts, computers, health, etc. Isnt homeschooling great? You can just do whatever you want! We cant wait.

And I also wanted to let you know that there are a few books on my shelf that may be good for those eclectic HMs. A 5th grade Macmillan English text, 3rd grade "Treasury of Literature," and a music appreciation (has some hilighting from a previous owner) come to mind. There are also other college level texts that can be modified for age appropriateness. I do have some American Government, Psychology, and Sociology books that may  or may not be on my bookshelf but if you are looking for something along those lines, let me know.

Sorry so long, but thanks for reading! Best to all!

-Stacy, Proud Army wife, 3rd ID

And I should also say that I am willing to wheel and deal on my book shelf items! Just PM me with a request!
