After 115 pages, I finally gave up on this book. It is relatively well written but confusing. It seemed as if every time I turned a page or started a new chapter, I was somewhere else with people Who didn't seem to have anything to do with what came before. This was not flashbooks but disjointed stories that didn't cohere.

I really liked this book. It's a fairly slow-paced mystery/thriller with lots of time to explore the people involved and the landscape. The countryside itself functions as a full-blown character. The resolution of the crime almost slid to the background as the author wove the lives of her characters. So not a page turner, I suppose, but a longer and more interesting read.

I couldn't finish this book. The characters where to hard to tell apart.

This came well recommended because it won the Swedish Crime Writers award for best crime novel.
I love 'murder mysteries' set in other places (in this case a very small Northern Swedish village).
Found it on a list of best Scandinavian mystery books - and it is good reading!
Besides the twists and turns crime books take, this is also a chance to get a real feeling for a place, its people, customs, way of life.
