The community of Palo Alto, California, was shocked when Kristine Fitzhugh was found dead of an accident--or was it? When her death was determined as homicide, Kristine's husband of 33 years, Ken Fitzhugh, was charged with murder. As the case progressed, the long-hidden secrets of the Fitzhugh family came spilling out.

Carlton Smith is an excellent true crime journalist. This book was refreshing in that everything is not revealed from the start so it held my attention from start to finish. The description of Palo Alto residents is totally correct! The "family secrets" are the key to the prosecutions case. Also, if you like the Dominick Dunne series, you'll like this.

First time reading a True Crime novel - wow, it was exciting. Not too gruesome but very detailed, good character descriptions, interesting murder case.

This was a very strange story. Maybe you have to have lived in Palo Alto CA to understand how people live different than me. I still don't understand what caused the murder, just lots of speculation. I would love to find out what REALLY happened that day. A good easy read, not a whole lot of characters to keep track of:) Give it a try I think most people will find it interesting if for no other reason than insanity strikes again. I'm not sure even who I feel sorry for maybe the son???

They were a perfect family, or were they? Did Ken kill his wife of over 20 years? Was it an accidental fall? did someone else come in and kill Kristine? Judge for yourself. A GREAT true crime book!
