This is a terrific introduction to SFR for those who've never read it and/or are afraid to try it due to possible Tech. There's no Tech in this story. It's much more of an SFR that reminds me almost of a cop novel.

The characters are engaging and interesting. There's no overload of sex or cussing, though there's a bit of each. It's a fast read.

As an SF fan did I long for more SF? Yep. It's really vague in this story. I missed some of the same things that the other reviewer did--the alien language and names, explanations about the aliens and Seneca's abilities, etc. But I still enjoyed this anyway.

Having read several of Ms. Barry's Un- novels I did find this one a bit more predicatable and more like an old cop movie than that series.

Will I read the rest of this series? Yes. Maybe they'll go into the aliens in more detail. Was I happy with the ending? Yes. Even if I could see it coming.

Science Fiction romance by CJ Barry, seems to be first in a new series. Alien shapeshifters have crash landed on Earth. Most try to blend in and try to lead a "normal" life. The crazy ones are serial killers. Seneca is part of a police force tasked with identifying the shifters, and killing them. Max is a shifter whose only goal is to find the shifter who killed his wife. So he becomes Seneca's partner. Seneca hates all shifters. They work together, and as they hunt down the bad-guys, get to know and trust each other better. Guess what happens? The plot is a little thin. Lots of unanswered questions. What exactly happened to the shifter's home planet? What was its name? "Max" is a human name. What was his real name? Exactly why does Seneca have the talents she has? The book is almost fair. Nothing to write home about.

Loved the book. Great play between Seneca and Max. The steamy sex scenes were also a good read :-)

I enjoyed this one. I liked both Seneca and Max. They gradually learned to trust each other. I liked the sex scenes, there was nice build-up to them. Good villain.
