This is Francis' 2nd book about Kit Fielding (1st about his family feud and sister's husband, who is the sworn enemy). In this novel, the princess that Kit jockeys for, has some threatening things happen in her family so Kit moves in. By this time, Kit is engaged to her niece. The princess's horses start getting killed one-by-one, while Kit tries to stop it. A great read -- Francis' usual captivating style.

In Kit Fielding's breakneck world of steeplechase racing, the ultimate catastrophe strikes: Someone is shooting horses. As Kit races to stop the murdering madness, everyone in his upper-crust circle becomes a suspect--the princely rival who's trying to woo his woman, the personal enemy bent on ruining his family, not to forget the black-market arms dealer whose plans could imperil the globe. Much as the civilized side of him hates to admit it, Kit wonders if he should steel himself to the use of force...

Another great Dick Francis story. He is an amazing storyteller. This one features Kit Fielding, who has appeared in other Dick Francis books. If you haven't read Dick Francis, pick any of his many books (or this one!) and get started. You have a major treat in store.

Dick Frances writes great mysteries. I especially like the background insight into the world of horse racing. Language is clean & the story is not muddied up with an excess of sex or graphic violence. The title Bolt has nothing to do with how a horse runs. You'll have to read it & find out.

In Kit Fielding's breakneck world of steeplechase racing, the ultimate catastrophe strikes: someone is shooting horses with a weapon fiendishly called a "humane killer" Kit must stop the murdering madness, and everyone in his upper-crust circle becomes a suspect---the princely rival who's trying to woo his woman, the personal enemy bent on ruining Kit's family, the black-market arms dealer whose plans could imperil the globe. Such dire situations call for drastic measures that a civilized man like Kit must steel himself to use...
