To unearth a guilty murderder a sleuth has to put their nose into everybody else's business. It can be surprising and sometimes shocking what they learn. So it is with Bone House and more. The Elizabethan-era tension between medicine and witchcraft is part of the scene, along with class distinctions, mental handicaps and the need for art to portray people. Propelled by these ideas, I found this an interesting tale as well as a surprising mystery. A good read.
