Excellent medieval fantasy. Elves and humans. 27 year old heroine heals using power from herself rather than just medicines. Folks don't seem to think it strange. Two elves on a scouting mission come to the castle where her father is King. One is hurt and she heals him. His friend becomes enamored of her during this time. She turns down his offer of love because she doesn't want to row old while he is still young. (Elves live several hundred years.) The kingdom is attacked by bad humans from the north. Elves ally with the humans and our heroine has her hands full healing battle wounds. Her father, the king, dies in her arms when an attacker chops off his head as she is healing his broken back. Taken prisoner she heals the enemy commander's son, escapes and meets with her elf lover. The boy gets infection after she escapes and she has to heal him again when he later turns into a prisoner after the humans win. Love story in part, with just the right mix of action and family.
