So I decided to clean up some of the Raymond E. Feist books, because the titles were so jumbled (some were labeled with the series, some weren't) and I couldn't even tell which ones I had read or not (I seem to only remember series names).

I decided to start with Prince of the Blood, so I added the series name to all of the different copies of that book, as well as a little cleaning (making sure that they all had descriptions, the author's name was all spelled the same, etc).

They ALL had the year published (which varied by edition), but now that they've passed approval NONE of them have the year published.

I also went through all of Elizabeth Bear's novels in a similar process, and about half of hers have lost their years.

Any ideas what could have happened?  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Denise

I actually can't answer this one, but do know that someone else recently complained of the same thing happening to some that she did. I wonder if you both did edits at the same time, and if it was the days when the system wasn't showing descriptions for any of the books? I got several notices of failed corrections during those couple days. (seems there were all kinds of glitches that happened, not just the database submissions)

I know you are feeling frustrated, Denise, since it is such a waste of your time, but realize it is also wasting the time of an approver to go thru them, and now you both seem to have to do it again if you want the years to be showing!!! I can't give you any solice nor suggestions on why, nor whether or not it is worth the effort to go back and re-correct them all :(

I think I will see if Robert can shed any light on this, maybe he can see when the edits were made and determine whether he knows if there was a specific problem on those days that caused this loss. From what I can see, you've only done Prince of the Blood so far? Why don't you hold off and let's see if there is an answer to be had? I'll get back to you on this either here or directly in a PM.

Thanks for bringing this up, Denise, I'm betting others have had the same problem, and just not noticed it!

I didn't do the Prince of the Blood edits while the system wasn't showing descriptions (they were after), but I think some of the Elizabeth Bear books were done then.

I'm kinda more frustrated at being afraid to do any more - I tend to do things in batches and then check back in a few days to see how they went through.  I was working on the scifi stuff while I was away (and thus, on my laptop), and now that I'm home (with the huge dual monitor setup), I can go back to the Pocket Classic research project... except I don't want to input anything!  *sigh*

Hopefully no one else is having this problem, but that was one of the reasons I posted in this forum... if other people do notice it, hopefully more examples will help track down the problem faster.

Thanks!

Denise

I understand, your frustrations, and reason for posting. Makes perfect sense to me that if others are noticing this we want to know as well. I have sent in feedback, but they sometimes get so busy with updates and bugs, that they don't always get to track them all down. I'm hoping this was just a fluke and no one else has seen any problems with it. I'll be sure to let you know if I hear anything. I also encourage anyone that has seen dates disappear after edits to post here, we do need to know.
