I received harry potter 4 with a name written on the opposite side of the spine and a few wrinkles on the cover.  I just want to make sure you guys think it is re-postable before I sent it off and get yelled at!

is it written on the pages edges?  I'm trying to figure out if that is what you mean opposite the spine.  If so, I think you can't repost but I'll defer to those that know more about that.  I personally wouldn't care, but what I would accept and what the rules are are two different things!

it is on the edges - it doesn't bother me (although I was a bit disappointed when I reveived it) but I want to make sure I'm not going to upset someone else.

Hi Erin!  I just went to the Help Center to see is anything was written about this.  I tried to cut and paste something to post here, but for some reason couldn't!

If you get on the Help Center, type in Book Conditions and there will be a page saying what is OK and what is NOT OK to post.

I didn't see anything about a name written on the edges of pages, but IMO it would be OK, as names, bookplates, or Bookcrossing stickers inside books are OK.   Some wear or yellowing on books is also acceptable.  Check the Help Center yourself and see what you think.

If you are still in doubt, I think what you could to is post the book, then when it's requested, PM the person to let them know about the name on the edges.  That will give them the choice to accept or cancel.

Myself?  I wouldn't care, as long as the book wasn't falling apart and was readable!

Written on the edges is perfectly fine for reposting, as has been said by Official People in this forum many times. So's a name on the flyleaf.

Is it okay to have a name on the inside front cover rather than the flyleaf?

I'm pretty sure 'name of owner written in book' mostly has a total pass, unless it's like scrawled in black marker on the first three pages or something.

There was a long thread on this a while back and R&R posted concerning this.  It's fine.  (I'm guessing you are saying someone wrote their name on the page edges like students do.)
