I am going to start a unit on food. The food pyramid, where food comes from, etc. Any good books on where food comes from, why you need certain foods, etc? |

Check with your local extension office. They should have a lot of great information. You can purchase 4H curricula even if you're not a member. There's a great site called "Pyramid Tracker", where your kids can track their caloric intake and see how it stacks up: www.iddnet.com/pyramidtracker/ Also, you can get a bunch of free stuff from the FDA, USDA, American Dietetic Association, etc. Here's an ADA link: www.eatright.org/cps/rde/xchg/ada/hs.xsl/nutrition.html JCC
