I have a book on my shelf "A is for Alibi" that shows up between N and O.  Last night I noticed the same book out of order on someone else's shelf.

Now, I'm no whiz at spelling, but I do know my alphabet, and last I checked, A came at the begining!!  What gives??

It is that way on my Books I've Read list. I kept trying to relist it because it did not show up. I started scrolling through my list and found 2 or 3 listings of it in different places. I could kind of understand it being in the I's if the system assumed the "A" was an indefinite article. It's weird.

I think the system is reading the "A" as if it were the word "A," which would not be counted in alphabetization.  But I don't know why it would be between N and O!!!  I just checked and my book "A, My Name Is Ami"  is showing up in the F's!

I do recall R&R saying they were working on fixing something that causes books to be misalphabetized, but I'd imagine that's on the back burner now, with all the energy going into the DVD site.

Try submitting an edit on the listing even if nothing needs to be changed. I have tried this on some and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I agree with Patty.  I have a book on my WL that's inexplicably out of order.  Beast Warriors.  It's not listed towards the beginning in alphabetical order like my other WL books.  I can't figure out why and I don't really care as long as I keep my place in line.

Good idea Betsy, I just did it, now we'll see if it works.

Some books it wouldn't bother me so much, but since this is a series, someone looking for A isn't likely to look all the way down the list for it!

LOL

Well, that didn't work so well.  I submitted the edit, and also sent in a feedback about the problem.  Now it shows up in the middle of the S's!!!!!

You would think it would still show up under the A's because of Alibi.

There are just some books in the database that are sorted weridly. I don't have any clue what triggers it, but I would imagine, from comments I've received from R&R that it may have something to do with whatever causes the database to see Clark, Mary Higgins one time and Higgins, Mary Clark the next time, along with several other 3 name authors. Sometimes they are alphabetized by their 3rd name, sometimes the 2nd.

I've seen other books misalphabetized, like Jeanne's book, can't remember them off hand, but there is nothing that can be done about them at this time. Some time in the future a major correction to the database may be done, but it is severe enough that the whole site will have to come down, and absolutely no access will be available and they are not ready to do that yet. I don't remember how long they said it would take, but they are not ready to take such action at this time.

Well, that's probably why they haven't done it yet, they're too concerned about multiple lawsuits filed do to wrongful deaths! hahahahaha

Thankfully, someone ordered all my Grafton books last night, so I no longer have it on my shelf to annoy me!!
