HI! I am fairly new to PBS and thought I had this figured out but guess I didn't. I had a book that was on a buddys wish list and I understood that even if there were many members wishing for a book I could post it directly to my buddy. I went to my buddys wish list & hit "post this book" directly from her wish list. It seemed to work fine & we exchanged the book. However, the next time I did this w/ a different buddy, the book ended up being requested by someone else? Is it possible the buddy declined the book and it went to the next member waiting, or am I doing this wrong? Also, If I have a book and post it to one buddy and they decline it can I then post it to another buddys wish list or does it just go straight to the next member waiting? Thanks |

Actually - you can post directly to someone's WL. You just need to be in their WL and click the post button (if you hover over the button it will say "post directly to this buddies' WL -- I just did it) It's possible that the second time you posted to your buddy he or she declined the book. It would then go to the first person in the WL line. Last Edited on: 7/21/07 8:54 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have only tried to post directly to a WL one time and it did not work. Both myself and the other member were online waiting for the transaction to show up on her account and after the buyer's remorse hour was up, it went to someone else, I assume the first person in line for the book. I have heard other people say that they have had problems with this option only working SOME of the time. I will not try again until I know it works ALL the time because I felt bad cancelling the transaction on someone who was wishing for the book and I would not want it done to me. They really need to look into this problem. |

I've never had a problem with it Jennifer. I know people who play a lot together in the games forum do it as well, and I've never heard anyone having any trouble with it. |

Could it be that the ISBNs did match when this feature didn't work? I have done it a few times successfully. If a book that is wished for has some difference in the ISBN then of course it will go to member at the top of the FIFO for the book that WAS posted |

Cheryl, thats sounds like the mostly likely reason for it to fail. Just because the book has the same title doesn't mean it is the same book exactly. Best to check the ISBN before trying. What I usually do is send the ISBN of the book I have to the person who wants it, have them add THAT book to their WL, then post it to them. |

Thank you all - that must have been the problem - the isbn b/c I had previously posted a book directly to someone on their wish list & it worked fine, then the 2nd time I tried it, to another buddy, it didnt work. I appreciate all of the help & replies. I will be sure to check the ISBN next time! |

Unfortunately, even when you check the ISBN carefully, sometimes it STILL doesn't work! I have a buddy who wanted a book, I checked her WL and saw she had a different ISBN listed, so I asked her to change it in her WL. Once she did, I pulled up her WL again, saw the book with the new ISBN, and clicked Post this Book. Went through entering the ISBN, etc. Within an hour I had a request for the book, but it was from someone else!!!! So why did this happen? I can understand the disappointment when skipping the FIFO process, and normally I wouldn't do that, but I wanted to extend a favor to a friend who had done so for me. Now the book has to go to someone else. |

Diana, this also happened to me just last week. Except that the right ISBN was already on my buddy's wl. I posted 4 wl books, two directly to two separate buddy's WL. One went through fine showing the 1 hour remorse, the other did not. When I clicked the pm button, just something I tend to do, I saw that it was not the buddy I had posted it directly too. I thought it had to be a glitch. I just let it go, no biggie someone who had it on their wl got it so that's all that mattered to me. But I have a buddy who's a single mom that can't buy books as freely as I can so sometimes I like to make her day by posting a wl right to her. |

I posted a WL book to a friend's list once, she delcined and it went to the next person. She declined because she had already read the book but forgot to remove it from her WL. LOL |

Since I have been checking the ISBN I haven't had another problem. But, one time, the buddy's ISBN was different & I didnt want to mess it up & them not get te book, so I sent them a PM and told them its not an exact match to ISBN but when I posted it to them I checked it as being the same on the wish list instead of trying to change it. She didnt mind as long as it was the same book. Maybe there is a glitch somewhere that we haven't figured out yet? Not sure just glad, as of yet, I havent had the problem again. Thanks to all for the advice |

OK, I think that the most likely reason that the book ends up going to someone else is that you are clicking on the book title link before you click on "post this book." You must be ON the person's wishlist page and click Post this Book, and it should work with no problem (unless they decline it). I do it often and have only had a problem once - because I hit Post this Book from the book description.

"You must be ON the person's wishlist page and click Post this Book" In my case that is exactly what I did, but for some odd reason it did not post to that person. I was on my Buddy's wl page and clicked on post this book. A message comes up saying, post this book into the system for this member. That's what I clicked on. I even checked later thinking maybe she had her shelf on hold so it went into the FIFO system, but she didn't have her account on hold. This was the first time this has ever happened before so I figured it had to be some type of glitch. |
