I am in charge of "revamping" our church library and would like some suggestions on books I can add. Most of our books are outdated and we have no Christian Fiction. Any ideas would be most appreciated!

www.bookCloseouts.com has a huge sale on many Chrisitan fiction titles, $1.99 a book. But it ends tomorrow. Hurry over to check it out.

Also, joining Box-O-Books allows you to request books without spending credits. I've found that to be very helpful. There's an annual $8.00 fee though.

I don't know all of the book titles, but here are some good authors:

*Ted Dekker (House, Skin, Three, The Circle Trilogy (Red, Black, White), Heaven's Wager, etc)

*Frank Peretti (Monster)

*Janette Oke

*Beverly Lewis

*Tamera Alexander (Rekindled, Remembered, Revealed, From a Distance)

*Robin Lee Hatcher (Dear Lady, Wagered Heart, Firstborn)

"Fireproof" and "The Love Dare" are also good.

Karen Kingsbury books are a good addition to a library and she has many series.

Our church library has a ton of Gilbert Morris, and Beverly Lewis seems to be popular as well.

I have an excellent copy of MarianneWilliamson's Illuminated Prayers.  It is brand new, hardcover with jacket. Also a like new 801 Questions Kids Ask about God, paperback.  And a hardcover Prayers for Little Hands.  I would offer all 3 of them to you for 1 credit.  pm me if you are interested.

They're not fiction of course, but would be a nice addition to a well stocked church library.

Another author I don't believe I saw mention above - Jamie Livingston Turner ( have one of hers on my shelf also)

Good luck in your search

**Illuminated Prayers & 801 Questions no longer available, ordered by other members. Thanks

Hi,

My husband is a pastor and I began a library in our last church.  One thing you can do is to tell the congregation to donate Christian Fiction that they are finished with and try to get whole series.  People won't read them if you don't have the whole set.  Also you can tell them that they can donate books that are not christian because you can swap them on PBS to get the ones you need.  I probably filled 1/3 of my library with PBS books.  I saved over a $1000!  The more books you get the more willing people are to donate their books.  Also you need to set up some policies of just want kind of books you will accept so that so that if someone donates something questionable you can go right to the policy and show them.  Hope this helps!
