Despite having an RC against tobacco/smoke smell, I have gotten over a dozen smelly books in past year. Some of them seem to have been exposed to scented dryer sheets to mask the smoky smell. They are WL books so would like to pass them on, do I need to let requesters know they have a scent? |

I don't think so.. I've seen RCs where people have said they didn't want books with dryer sheet scent, but the way I understand it, unless there's an RC regarding scent smells, it's ok to send. |

If there's an RC against any odor, including the standard smoke RC, I wouldn't send a 'scented' book to that member. There have been previous discussions about these dryer sheets and I believe TPTB have openly said not to add them to books. I have a smoke RC but hate the stink of artificial scents. The last thing I need is a book reeking of dryer sheets or any other stink. Guess I need to revamp my RC. If you want more feedback, start a thread on this issue on CMT. |

I know the scent-free dryer sheets are a suggested method of removing smoky and mildew smell from books. (See Multiple old discussion threads on cleaning up smelly books) |

There's no such thing as a scent-free dryer sheet, they all have some smell. But, never mind, I've already alterered my RC to politely ask senders to leave off dryer sheets. |

I'm pretty sure TPTB have said no to using dryer sheets just like no to using scotch tape. I'm updating my RC too. I have to toss books that were exposed to any dryer sheet. I have one in the garage I was hoping would improve but it hasn't. |
