This book explains the difficulties in moving West across America in the early days of settler migration. Bozeman created a trail to expedite that movement. However, the US Government had already given that land to the Indians, and they were not about to give it back. Once the trail was used, and three forts were planned along its length, Indians became incensed. This began with skirmishes and erupted into Red Cloud's War.

This story shows the blind stupidity of the government and the military. Red Cloud is the first and last Indian to win a war against the US Government.
