Whoopi Goldberg's preface in the book really sums it up. "Everything in the book is applicable to you or someone you know. You will be disturbed by the feelings that are stirred by the feelings that are stirred when you read any given page. You'll be glad it wasn't you and sad that others have had to live this so that you might read and learn from it..."

I remember the scare that circulated around many communities regarding the unknowns and uneducation of AIDS.
