If there was ever two characters so wrong for each other that they were right together, it was Kate and Trevor. What a great push-pull relationship they had. I was riveted to the end. Full review is at my website: LoraineNunley.com

Another wonderful story from Elizabeth Camden!

This is only the second book by Elizabeth Camden that I have read, I was even more impressed with her writing the second time around.

With Every Breath was one of the most interesting historicals I have read this year. I was fascinated by the info about TB and the research for a treatment/cure. I mean, who knew how important statistics could be in the day-to-day research of such a dread disease.

It took awhile for Trevor to grow on me. Just like Kate, I was determined to dislike him for the way he acted in school. But as the story went along and Kate's sunny personality began to thaw him out I came to like him more and more.
I loved the realism that Elizabeth Camden used in Kate. She is strong,bright and cheerful, but on the other hand she is a complete bundle of fears. She is a paradox just like so many of us are. And she has to learn how to live each day at a time.
Forgiveness is a major theme in With Every Breath. Both Kate and Trevor have things from the past and even some present things to forgive.

A wonderful story filled with danger and romance that is sure to please any reader of historical fiction. Don't miss With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden!

(I received a copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

About this book:

In the shadow of the nation's capital, Kate Livingston holds a respectable position as a government statistician when she encounters a rival from her past, the insufferable Trevor McDonough. A Harvard-trained physician, Trevor never showed the tiniest flicker of interest in Kate, and she's bewildered at the way he suddenly seeks her out. Surprising even herself, Kate agrees to Trevor's entirely unexpected and risky proposal to work side-by-side with him in his quest to rid the world of tuberculosis, a contagious and deadly disease.
As Kate begins to unlock the mysteries of Trevor's past, she realizes there is much more to him than she could have imagined. His hidden depths may fascinate her, but his most closely guarded secrets and a shadowy enemy lurking in the background carry a serious threat to their future.
When the truth of the past comes out, threatening to destroy everything they hold dear, how will Trevor and Kate ever overcome all that stands in their way?

Series: As of now, no. {But I would love a book about Tick!}

Spiritual Content- Kate doesnt understand why a loving God would allow sickness (She is a Christian but does wonder); She is also scared about death; Kate has realizations about God; A few Scriptures are quoted; Talks about God, Trusting Him & How He works.

Negative Content- Minor Cussing including: a shut up, four forms of blast, eleven forms of stupid, Mentions of drinking (not-detailed); People die, an autopsy is done, tuberculosis is a major part of this story, so lungs, blood, shots, medicine, etc.

Sexual Content- a b*st*rd, a wh*re; a semi-detailed kiss; a few not-detailed kisses; Mr. Zomohkov wonders why men would have women work in their offices then says that Men have desires (Kate stops him from continuing); Mr. Zomohkov kisses Mrs. Zomohkov & swats her bottom; Children were born out of wedlock; Lots of Love, falling in love, the emotions, a few touches and the romance is a major part of the story.

Pre Teens- One Star
New Teens- Two Stars
Early High School Teens- Three Stars
Older High School Teens- Four Stars
My personal Rating- Three Stars (and a half)
{Because theres a lot of romance, I would recommend a trusted adult (or parent) read it before the girl reads it & go from there}

I was really curious about this story, but the big plot twist didnt faze me as I saw it coming. I also wished there was more Spiritual content. And while I did like this book, because of all the romance and medical stuff I think it would be better for older girls.

3.0 out of 5 stars -- I chose this book without reading too much about it ahead of time. That was a mistake. It is not a genre I normally would ever select -- Christian romance. The reason I was intrigued by it was because it is about tuberculosis in the late 1800s. The historical information about the search for a cure and the treatment offered to patients during that time was very interesting and helped make up for the other 80% that was the lame love story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bethany House for the e-book ARC to review.
