  ~~Broken Wings~~

She flies above while far below
the world lies still in dreams...

Soaring, sailing...through diamond studded black,

fire (silk)
blazing (whispers of)
hard (soft)
steel (feathered)
...wings against clouds...

Into the storm...
...of lives undone
................of fates unknown
........................of love not found

then

......falls

*
*
*
down
*
*
*
!CRASHING!

lost and confused
on
rain (tear)
soaked earth

With a broken wing.

A damaged angel...

bruised, battered, but oh so beautiful
brought to mortal ground
where I walk, stumble...and
*
*
*
fall

held fast to earth
by my own broken wing

alone in my thoughts...but alive in her dreams
as she lives in mine.

And we search
through dream shattered shards
for mirrors of love

to reflect who we are
to each other

only to find
we can

~~~ fly ~~~
with
one
wing (dream)
when we wrap it around
one another.
For Sharon
(A little background explantion on this poem due to the oddity of its format. It was written shortly after I met the woman who would later become my wife. Several months before we met she had been in a commercial airliner plane crash during a wicked storm- and survived (American Airlines Flight 1420). Hopefully it makes a little more sense now :-).
