Buffalo Bill Cody was the most famous American of his time; he was a rockstar of his age. Until I read this book, I was unaware of the varied jobs he held (a frontiersman, a pony express rider, and an Indian scout for the Army). He knew everyone because he was so active in the West.

Cody wasn't above exaggerating his experiences and he had journalists eager to spread his words and works widely. He was truly a showman and he sensed that Easterners would pay handsomely to see Cody's version of the 'wild West.' Actually, he was able to take his show world-wide.

Cody's personal life was messy. He married and had four children. Unfortunately, he outlived three of them and the later years with his wife were not happy. I thought this brief thumbnail picture of Cody's life was very satisfying; it gave me as much as I was interested in Cody's unique life. This is a quick, interesting read.
