In order that the benefits of the University may be as widely extended as possible, arrangements are made for the reception of four classes of students, as follows : A. For those who wish to pursue regular Four-Year Courses of Instruction. 1. As Students in the Colleges of Science ; -- (that is, Agriculture, Chemistry, Engineering, Mechanics and Mining.) 2. As Students in the College of Letters (either in the Classical or in the Literary Course.) E. For those who wish to pursue shorter or less regular Courses of Instruction. 3. As Students at large ; -- (giving all their time to study, -- but not in the four-year courses.) 4. As Special Students; -- (in attendance upon particular courses of lectures, Physics, Natural History, Geology, etc.) D 21 n. Students at Large are admitted to the full privileges of the University, and will be subject to all its regulations. For admission, they are expected to pass the examination required of candidates for the College of Science. They must select studies enough to employ their time, under the direction of the Faculty ; and they will receive a certificate of proficiency in the studies which they have successfully pursued. rn.
