This story was really disappointing. I had really wanted to like it since I love reading stuff with vamps (and I have 3 other books for this series), but it's just not a good read. I had to force myself to finish because I was hoping it would get better.
The sex scenes are pretty sad. It's no wonder there's women who read this stuff thinking that they might be abnormal when there's female characters like the one in this story. I mean really, who has instantaneous orgasms? And do these characters even understand foreplay? ...not to mention seeming to get over near-rape. Just ridiculous... unless you're into that...
The humor the author used was pretty lame and I don't know why she bothers. The "Mr. Testicles" joke ran its course after a couple uses and then just became redundant afterwards.
The lead male was just too full of macho-male BS, as were many of the other "Prime" vampires. It just got annoying after awhile. As did the seriously under-developed vampire politics that were part of the story; they just didn't help the plot much at all.
The ending was also very anti-climatic. I was expecting a decent action scene but got nothing.
Overall, the story is NOT a good read for me and I won't be reading the others that I have. Perhaps others like this series, but I really tend to expect more.
Okay, so i'm aware that vampires aren't real and that books about them aren't going to be realistic. But this book just really strained my credulity. I am a huge fan of vampire romance books and I really wanted to like this one.
But a series of shots for the vampire allergies? I didn't even get through the first hundred pages.
Just terrible. Don't subject yourself to it.
This is the first book in the series. I really enjoy this series! I like the author's take on Vampire romance and how she incorporates the vampire's extra senses but keep the romantic relationship between the characters believable.
This book grabbed me right away and kept my interest all the way through. I often read these quickly just to get to the next one in the series.
Not the best of the genre, not the author's best work (which at its best is merely medicore).
Deeply imaginiative and interesting once it got going. Had a good level of sexual tension throughout the first half and then the plot really picked up. I liked it.
I just couldn't get into to this book, after three tries I stopped.
Sizemore really sets the scene with the Prime series, I couldn't set it down!
First book in a series. I really enjoyed reading this book. A little slow at times but I loved the characters. Sexy and romantic. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
First I've read of her paranormal series. Great story. Look forward to the other two.
I loved this book. A great read.
sizzling vampire story that i couldn't put down. i decided to get the others in the series.
i really like this author. she always keeps me entertained until the end and this was no disappointment.
This was good. A fast read but enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the next one. The heroine had a brain and a backbone, always a plus.
This was a good book, but I didn't read these books in order..so I really liked I Thirst for You and I Hunger for You a lot better than this one.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK,EXCITING,SEXY AND FUNNY. SUSAN IS ONE OF MY FAV WRITERS. THE WORLD HOLDS GREAT DANGER FOR ALEC REYNARD AND HIS KIND. AS THE DARK HOLLOWS OF HIS SOUL THREATEN TO OVERWHELM HIM,HE UNDERGOES SECRET MEDICAL TREATMENTS THAT ALLOW HIM TO BEAR DAYLIGHT. LIVING A DOUBLE LIFE AS A BODYGUARD, HE MUST ALSO BATTLE THE POWERFUL CHEMISTRY THAT EXPLODES BETWEEN HIM AND DOMINI LANCER, A MERE MORTAL-AND, UNBELIEVABLY, HIS SOULMATE.
This is a different kind of vampire book. I am not going to give it away, but the vampires in this series are cousins of the human. The human race is more of a genetic flaw. There is a story behind it and you just have to read how it all came about! This is one of the many storlines I enjoyed in this book.
Another, is the characters. For one Domini is one of my favorite! She is smart, career driven, commanding, strong physically and mentally. Not without flaws. And unlike so many other vampire series, her family member is present and a part of her life. Early on in the book you find out that there is more to their story but you have to read to the end to find out! Domini is conflicted and does not trust this stanger that suddenly pops into her life. He makes her feel all of these emotions she has one, never felt before. And two, has been shielding herself from. But, the best thing about Domini is she never looses herself or her independent ways. She falls in love with the PRIME vampire who by nature is possessive and used to getting his own way. She still speaks her mind and will maintain her own identity. This is my biggest reason for liking this book.
Alec, the big attractive vamp is your typical leading guy. He was in the army and is now fighting his nature with meds that allow him to appear a normal human like being able to go into the sunlight, and surpress the silver and garlic allergy that comes along with being a vamp. He loves his woman, and will do anything for her.
This book has lots of twists and turns that are all explained by the end of the book. There is only the mystery of Domini's grandmother but I think that may be taken care of in another book. I wish it had a little more sex. Like most vampire romance it sticks to the common "soul mates" storyline. I do not believe in soul mates, which is why I enjoy reading about them! This is an easy read that will leave you wanting! I hope I gave you an idea about the book without giving away too much!
Interesting concept. Worth the read.
Pretty good book. The ending left me a bit disappointed, but it was good.
this is a wonderful vampire novel......
this was a modern day vamp story-- I liked the characters and I liked the story enough to get the other books by this author.
read it in a day, very good book.
Not a fan; was very disappointed in the storyline; some parts dragged; others went too fast, including the hurry-up ending. Won't read any others.
Not bad at all, I borrowed this one from the library, and I'm interested in reading more from this series.
Alexander Reynard is not only a former special-forces officer; he's also a vampire. When he meets fellow bodyguard Domini Lancer, a human, he knows he's met his soulmate. But when a stalker threatens Domini, Alex protects her the only way he knows--by kidnapping her and taking her to his clan's stronghold. There, it's impossible to hide who--and what--he is any longer. Will she be able to accept him? Or is she a vampire slayer who's cleverly infiltrated Clan Fox?
The world holds great danger for Alec Reynard and his kind. As the dark hollows of his soul threaten to overwhelm him, he undergoes secret medical treatments that allow him to bear daylight. Living a double life as a bodyguard, he must also battle the powerful chemistry that explodes between him and Domini Lancer, a mere mortal - and unbelievalby, his soulmate.

Domini know nothing of Alec's true nature. But when danger threatens, he kidnaps her to his clan's stronghold to protect her... and there, he can no longer hide who--or what--he is. As the forces aligned against Domini draw near, Alec wonders whether she'll accept the darkness within him--or whether she's actually a vampire slayer who's cleverly infiltrated his clan.
Didn't get to this one, had to sift my to read list!
