If you request a book, and then cancel it later, while it still states Waiting For Member, does that member actually get to know about it?

I think it depends if it was within the one hour buyers remorse window or not. If it was within that one hour then they don't know about it. If it was after then they can see it in their transaction archive.

Yes. They will be able to view it in their transaction archive, it will state transaction canceled by requester.

Like Leslie says - -  If you cancel within the Buyer's remorse (first hour) then:

they don't get the email and it never shows on their account page; but it will be in the transaction archives once you place the order, whether you cancel right away or a day later.

Yes it goes into the archive of the person who cancels (the person who ordered) the book but I don't think it shows in the archive of who it was ordered from unless an hour has past.

If it does then I have a glitch because I had a person cancel an order from me within a few minutes of ordering and then PM me a question before she reordered. She then made an error on her reorder and cancelled again within the hour. The two cancellations never showed up in mine but the order that stuck obviously was notated after an hour or so had passed.

So maybe I have a glitch?!

To the OP - I hope this helps.

I don't think that cancellations that happen before the person actually accepts the order get recorded in the Transaction Archive anymore. They used to. I know that wishlisted books that get turned down are no longer there either, and they used to be there too.

I did just have one of my wishlist books that was posted, accepted by the member, then cancelled by her at the last minute, and that one DID show up in my TA and I got an e-mail about it, but it was one that was already previously accepted.

The only reason I know this is because I just had an order for a book a few day ago that was canceled a minute after it was ordered. I just happen to go into my transaction archive and saw it there. The cover had a red X and I was confused, so I clicked on the details. All the info is available. Time of order, time of cancellation and the member who ordered/canceled the book. It shows who ordered just like in a regular transaction and when you click on request details you get the order info. I pasted below so you can see. I didn't copy/paste the members info for obvious reasons.

Cheryl, I agree, I also thought these transactions were no longer logged, that's why  was surprise to see it there.
