My daughter just finished this text for 2nd grade (homeschool). She loved the stories, and her completing the summary questions was an easy way for the teacher (me!) to gauge understanding. It also has chapter wrap-ups and skills such as vocabulary, using a glossary, using context, sensory images...This book is 1989, which sounds old, but the stories are timeless.
