This book is what I like to call "paranormal lite". There is a small aspect of it that's paranormal, but the rest is contemporary romance.

Ravine is a lawyer that left her high-paying job with a large legal firm in Philadelphia when she became pregnant by a man she'll never see again. She moves back home to Noxem (her home town) and struggles to support herself and her son with help from her mother and large extended family. The paranormal aspect is introduced when Ravine receives a "diaper genie" from her mother. Lo and behold, it contains an ACTUAL genie. Gene to be specific. The rest of the book is interestingly and humorously dedicated to the romance between Ravine and her genie and her struggles to make a new career for herself in her small town.

This book is told from the first person, which isn't always my favorite thing, but I did enjoy it. Just not keeper.

Clever storyline. Fun and fast read!

I just found that this author also writes under the pen name, Savannah Russe. She is the author of the bestselling vampire series called The Darkwing Chronicles: Beyond the Pale, Book One (June 2005), Past Redemption, Book Two (April 2006), Beneath the Skin, Book Three ( February, 2007), In the Blood (November, 2007), and Under Darkness (June 2008).

Cute book. Just wouldn't call it a normal paranormal book. Very easy to read, breezed thru it in a couple of hours.

a quick read, no-brain required... which is nice sometimes! A genie named Gene??? It was a fun read but you're getting the idea. :)

I usually can read ANYTHING...however this started and continued almost to the end to be a "throw it across the room" book. The concept was really interesting but the main character was not believable and to a certain point she was unlikeable/unbelievable. It almost seemed to be a first or rough draft. With some brushing up and tightening up of the plot and characters it could have been a wonderful story. On that note it did have a good ending and if the writer could have captured some of the magic at the end and injected into the beginning and middle this would have been a great story. Everyone's got different things they look for in a book and for me it's a well written plot with characters that I can connect to. This was a "rainy day and I've read everything else" book that will not be a keeper.
