Isis left home at a young age to escape the abuse she had to endure by her family. She is alone and she likes it that way.In order to survive she works as a stripper. One night while working she is kidnapped by Flare, who is a Shikar warrior. He is an incinerator who can create and control fire. He has come to protect Isis from the Deamons who want to us her against his race. Isis has her own powers that she is not yet aware of. As soon as Flare sees Isis he is infatuated with her. Because of Isis's traumatic childhood he has to work very hard to get her to trust him and open up to him.
These two were very HOT. Flare is your typical alpha male but he is also very tender and caring. I could not get enough of those two.

Warning: This book does deal with child molestation and rape.

It's a good read, but be forewarned it contains references to the molestation and rape of the heroine by her stepfather. Action oriented plot, great characters but almost no overlap to any of the other stories. Pulse from Ride the Lightning has a supporting role but there is no sign of Luna being in the picture. This one is bit more open-ended that most of the stories as we leave the story before the heroine really finds out what her new Shikar powers are [other than super strength and able to leap tall cars with a single bound.] Hopefully Ms King will enlighten us in future books!

These related stories are not order dependent - but you might be pretty lost if you haven't read at least some of the Horde Wars, especially Lord of the Deep.
