This is a witches book on the Discworld and its an OK read - but its not one of the better ones. The plot starts a take off of the fairytale christening with vampires standing in for the fairies. From there it moves to parody of horror novel tropes. Along the way, we encounter a doubting priest of Om, Igor, etc.

I liked the witches, particularly Granny's solution to the vampire problem. Vampires that insist on giving a sporting chance. I also liked seeing the info on vampires from a different angle than The Truth.

I disliked the religion bits. Pratchett never does well with those, even though I liked Small Gods. Nanny Ogg trying to be Granny, which just doesn't work. Also, I really disliked the the fact that the Count and family felt compelled to cheat. A good enough argument and some benes could have made their little project work.

I found it a weak to good Discworld novel and its headed back to the library.
