Another interesting Perry Mason mystery from Gardner which also shows it age (1949) in interesting aspects.
For example, Tijuana, Mexico is still a little town just thinking of tourists. Part of the story takes place in the first small hotel to open there. And when the rooms are all taken, management, just one lady, turns off the outside lights, switches off the chimes on the hotel's one clock, and goes home. Plus your car keys are left in a drawer in her desk.
Another little interesting tidbit was when Perry Mason returned to a room because he left his "automatic pencil" there. Boy, you wouldn't want to lose your automatic pencil. Do you know what they cost! :-)
