This approach means helping a person learn to read using more than one of the senses. Most teaching in schools depends on either sight or hearing. The student's sight is used for looking at diagrams, books, pictures, or for reading what's on the board. The sense of hearing is used in listening to what the teacher says, but teachers do not have time to discuss the issues with the students to make sure they understand what is being taught. That is why some of them fall behind in reading. With Catch Up With Reading, you have an opportunity to monitor each student's progress within the small group. If a student falls behind, he or she may come in early the next day, sit down with a facilitator or teacher and get caught up with the group before class starts. (The facilitator may suggest that a student needs help and ask the student to come in early). This early review may happen day after day throughout the program. No student should get left behind while in a Catch Up With Reading program.« less
