This book is about standing up for what is right. Rebecca does disobey in this story just like the last book in this series...yes there are consequences she is injured but there are also consequences for her standing up for what was right and those consequences were positive. The historical theme of this book is about factory work and the terrible conditions the workers faced. While in many ways things are better today..I see many parallels between the factory owners and the big companies of today that get away with bad things. Such as when frackers wreck the water, air, roads, and peace. This is my opinion. Also this has been my favorite book in this series
