The Chase by DiAnn Mills is one of those novels you pick up to relax with, but find yourself so engrossed in the characters and their adventures, that you are exhausted and exhilarated by the last page. A New York Times bestselling author, Kariss, teams up with FBI agent Tigo to reopen a cold case from five years ago. A little girl was found starved to death, and now Kariss wants to find the girl's mother. In the chase, danger and romance surprise Kariss and Tigo. Really loved this book. It was honest, with characters that I grew to like. There were no easy, instant resolutions. The heroine/hero relationship is definitely a work in progress. I am looking forward to book 2 in the series.

DiAnn Mills is one of my favorite authors. As a Houstonian, it was interesting to read a story set in my town, picture where the action was taking place.
For me the action wasn't very suspenseful (I'm a Hitchcock fan so I have pretty high standards). Without giving it away, I figured out who the main bad guy was when the first subtle clue was given.
Good characters, very believable. Had a hard time putting the book down which was a bad thing since I was at work -- just don't tell my boss ;-)
Looking forward to the next in this series!

I, as a reader, got the distinct sense with The Chase, how dangerous our streetsand our world has become. But how hope in Christ completely saves us from such sin.

Drug cartels, a small childs safety, and the conviction and career of one novelist ride on the line in this novel. There were several different angles to the story and the plot and suspense of each moment. Often times I felt my attention was torn in different directions and left me a bit scattered. Other moments the plot was clear and directed, each thread weaving in to connect to a larger conspiracy buried deeper within the pages of the novel.

Its not an easy ride, thus the title fits the book aptly. This hasnt been my favorite of such suspense novels. I thought several scenes were unnecessary and slowed the pace. The book does leave the room for continuing the series and I think readers are going to become more invested with Kariss and Tigo in subsequent novels. Several plot twists took me by surprise and keep me wondering what would happen next. But I did think there was a bit *too* much happening.

I also might not be the perfect audience for this book and Im sure other readers of high-octane suspense will find this book perfectly to their liking. It just wasnt completely for mine.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through CFBA for my copy to review.
