James Michener is one of the great authors of all times. One has to stay with it to get to the story in all of his books, but there is so much history tied in with the story.

Each of his books is a saga that is sooo worth your time. Living here on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake, he really maintains the flavor of this colorful area, with all of its characters and hardworking, ordinary citizens. As rewarding as his ALASKA, POLAND, AND HAWAII. Don't miss it!

Chesapeake is one of the best novels that James Michener wrote, IMO, and I have read ALL of his books.

It is haunting in a way of the countryside that only a country person can appreciate. Michener gives life not only to his human characters, but also to the animal life that populate this novel.

Michener's books for the most part are written on a grand scale as historical fiction. He gives the reader a portrait of how things might have been, not how things really were.

What can you say? It's James Michener. All his stuff his excellent. A wonderfully entertaining to get a good dose of American history. (Older book, but still in good reading condition.)
