Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a great September! :)

I was wondering if any of you knew of any chic lit books that have plus size characters or have the main character dieting or getting fit? Or books that have the plus size character learning how to be comfortable in her own skin?

The ones I do know of  are:

Jemima J by Jane Green

Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner

The Next Big Thing by Johanna Edwards

Fat Chance by Deborah Blumenthal

Do you know any others? :)

thanks so much!

Have you read Size 12 is Not Fat by Meg Cabot? But I don't think she diets in the book. I can't remember. But, it's a good book. lol

I really enjoyed Conversations With the Fat Girl.  I can't remember the name of the author.  I already sent it out to someone on PBS.

I liked 'he loves lucy' by susan donovan..it's more 'romance' but she and a personal trainer are working to help her lose a lot of weight so they both get the money they need. They have some romance but it's a lot about her dealing with some issues and getting past that and wanting something badly enough.

Meg Cabot's size 12 is not fat and size 14 is not fat either are good books and she's overweight but not really dieting..don't thinks he diets at all though she does at least 'think' about the calories LOL! I really liked these 2 books and am waiting for 'big boned' to come out.

I just saw that this person:

is doing a 2-for-1 on her shelf in the book bazaar, and one of the books called "Every Inch of Her" looked like something along these lines.

Miss Invisible was GREAT!!!  of course I love to eat and it had lots of good food mentioned through out.

the Cinderella Pact by Sarah Strohmeyer was also a good one

The Meg Cabot books are ok IMHO.

Too Big to Miss by Sue Jaffrain was pretty good (not sure if anyone mentioned that one yet)

There is a sequel to Meg Cabot's Size 12 Is Not Fat, I think it is called Size 14 is Not Fat Either.  I loved these two books.

They are more about becoming comfortable in your own skin than dieting, but they were fun.

There is also a book called Slightly Single and I do not remember the author that deals with weight and dieting and I rolled laughing at this one.  There are follow ups to it as well...One is Slightly Engaged.  I think they are really fun.

I just finished MIss Invisible and I have to admit I'm impressed and really enjoyed it. I didn't expect to like it since it's from a Christian publisher (which Is something I need to get over since I'm Christian and' know' religion often plays a part in lifechanges, etc but I've had too many with the obvious purpose being to 'be religious' vs being entertaining and informative first) doesn't make sense sorry but I could identify and like this character and parts were pretty funny about the church singles group with basically good cathc and somethng like 'all 17 presbyterian womean had staked their claim'..not sure the exact wording but i was laughing in agreement! and a nice happy ending ot wrap it all up. I'm really tempted to read more of her books after liking htis one so much.

I 2nd the cabot size 12 and size 14 books...hilarious but the character mentions her size and food but isn't overly concerned about it really. I'm gonna buy big boned as soon as it's out(gotta check to make sure I dind't miss it but think it's in december..have so many on m to buy list it's unreal!)

gonna check out slightly single and that mystery series mentioned! anyone here have those on your shelves? (proviiding there are even any in the system!)

I think I have Slightly Engaged on my shelf, but not Slightly Single.  Enjoy these books...I thought they were really funny.

I am looking forward to Big Boned as well.

I just finish reading a book about a plus size women who lost alot of weight.  It's alittle like Jemima J but it really explores everything that comes with losing so much weight with a added love story.  It was really great.  There is the UK version, and the U.S version.  Both the same book but have different titles and book covers.  I have the UK version its called The Perfect 10, and the U.S. version is called The Perfect Fit: Fat Free Dreams Just Dont Taste the Same.  The author is Louise Kean.
