Since the only requirement is for the writer to be female, there is no "theme" and the stories span from tragic to comical. Sadly it's pretty hit or miss, there's a small handful of stories I'd consider "great", a few I thought were outright bad and the majority were simply servicable and forgettable. As a whole though, the writing level here is very high, I just wasn't very engaged throughout. Worth reading if you're a fan of short stories, but I would get it from the library or here rather than spending money on it.

I rarely read short stories, but I heard an interview with the editor of this book on the radio so I decided to try it. I was very impressed. I enjoyed almost every single story in the book. The stories were varied and included romance, satire, and contemporary fiction. Highly recommended.

Excellent collection of a diverse group of stories from a collection of talented women writers. If you like short stories this is a must-read.
