I read this when I was waaaaaay too young. It's an account by Susan Atkins (and a co-author) about her life as part of Charles Manson's infamous group. It's a pretty gripping account, but it's not for the squeamish, as some of the details are pretty gritty. I think I was about ten or eleven when I first read this. I had nightmares for quite a while. =(
This is the true story of the conversion of Susan Atkins, who was one of the Manson followers, convicted in the murders. Good.
While this book details the "rebirth" of Manson family murderess Susan Atkins, I have much more sympathy for the victims of her brutality.
Good Book. But, I do not believe this woman was ever sorry for what she did. The book plainly tells that in the beginning. All convicts at some point , find God, usually hoping to be released. Since this book was written in '77 , I wonder if Ms. Atkins still has the "Spirit of God"? Seeing that she is still in prison & the latest photo of her that I seen was an old prison con with a busted lip? I do hope she was sincere, but, in my experiences with cons, 80% usually are just about to come up for parole. Sad, but true. Remember when she LAUGHED at the family of Ms. Folger & Mrs Tate/Polanski???? It is still hard for me to feel sorry for a woman who stabbed a beautiful , pregnant actress & THEN LAUGHED AT HER FAMILY IN COURT!!!! Brainwashed by Manson?? I doubt it. Remember the children of Mr. & Mrs. LaBianca???? Mr LaBianca with a FORK in his throat?? Gary Hinman , a homosexual peaceful hippy???? Stabbed & tortured for 3 DAYS????? By THE VERY PEOPLE HE THOUGHT WERE HIS FRIENDS?
