Loved the new twist on this old story. Brilliant!
Wow! This book was amazing. A page-turner for sure! I don't know how I've managed to have this in my TBR (10+ years!) and not know what I was missing. The journaling format used in it gives it a very "Bram Stoker" feel to the story so that it's easy to consider this a prequel. Any fans of the original will not be disappointed with this series.
It is Amsterdam, 1871, 25 years before the start of Stoker's novel, and 25 years following Arkady Tsepesh's flight from his family's ancestral castle with his wife and young son, Stefan, after learning that he and his family are bound by an ancient covenant to serve their ancestor, Prince Vlad Tsepesh, who is also known as Dracula. For Vlad is a vampire, and the fated first born sons in every generation must bring him the victims he needs to survive. Arkady had tried to break the covenant and failed. He is now a vampire, seperated from his beloved wife and son, with one all-consuming desire-to destroy Vlad before he draws Stefan into eternal service through the blood ritual...
