This story about an English girl raised in China at the beginning of the China trade has some novel twists. Interesting hisotircal information, stays away from the truly ugly side of the time. The heroine has become more Chinese than English, and the contrasting culutres make for a fun story.

Fragrant Blossom is given in payment of a debt to an Englishman who doesn't know quite what to make of her. Very enjoyable.
