This is nostalgic book with stories of mothers making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for the underprivileged with their kids for children whom will get nothing else. Of mothers taking pride in their children putting their own money in the Salvation Army kettles. Families making Gingerbread houses together.Families making homemade treasures to give the other family members for Christmas. Grandmothers crocheting mittens for their beloved grandchildren. A Childless couple who gets the money to go to a professional Christmas show and instead buys a Christmas wreath for parents across the Street who can not afford to do so whose child died during the year and takes the this neighbors other children to the the professional show with them. There are many other wonderful stories like these.

This year, I am sharing the nativity story at the end of the book with two precious friends I visit at the nursing home. They absolutely love it and I so enjoy reading it to them and hearing their thoughts. Marjorie Holmes is a great writer; her book takes you back to a simpler, happier time. It took me home for Christmas!

Lovely gift copy!
