Suzanne Woods Fisher is one of the few Amish authors I read. I am not fond of many plots found in the horse and buggy novels but hers somehow always take a turn and surprise me. This one was a perfect example of a sweet romance that has me thinking of rose petals and delicious bakery treats!

This book is tied in with the Stoney Ridge Seasons series so if you have read those you will see many familiar faces. Bess is the daughter of Jonah Reihl, owner at Rose Hill Farm. She loves helping tend the roses but she is engaged to be married and will be leaving the roses behind. The man she is marrying is Amos Lapp. He is steady and true, always having loved Bess even when she was in love with another man. Only problem is, she may still be attracted to Billy Lapp after all this time.

I had somewhat of a hard time with the whole love triangle thing. Amos loves Bess and while she has agreed to finally marry him, she still loves Billy. And Billy has left the Amish community and works at a university now, even though he still has feelings for Bess. I felt bad for this young man who put up with a harsh childhood and family who turned on him.

Overall a very interesting read. There are two parts that deal with relationships after marriage that are very small but somewhat in detail. This is a smaller novel than usual but really sweet. Now I have to go back and re-read the Stoney Ridge Seasons series:)

I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Set in Pennsylvania Amish country. Bess is due to be married to Amos around Christmas. When a mysterious rose is found in her deceased grandmother's greenhouse, they call in an expert to identify it. The expert turns out to be a former love who has left the Amish clan. There is a higher power at work for all involved. Very good read - especially for Christmas.
