There are some unique aspects to the mythology in this book that made it interesting. Here the vampires know their true mate by her scent and will do anything to avenge/defend her. This sets up a great strong alpha hero and a heroine who doesn't quite know what to believe. The threat is from a demon/angel and the backstory was interesting. I liked the book overall, but it isn't one for the "keeper shelf" because of repetition. I understood why being claimed by a vampire forever might not be without drawbacks the first time the author explained it.
