Today's updated book (pending acceptance of new image and description):

ISBN 10:044084696X

House of Dies Drear, by Virginia Hamilton

A huge, old house with secret tunnels, a cantankerous caretaker, and buried treasure is a dream-come-true for 13-year-old Thomas. The fact that it's reputedly haunted only adds to its appeal! As soon as his family moves in, Thomas senses something strange about the Civil War era house, which used to be a critical stop on the Underground Railroad. With the help of his father, he learns about the abolitionists and escaping slaves who kept the Underground Railroad running. While on his own, he explores the hidden passageways in and under the house, piecing clues together in an increasingly dangerous quest for the truth about the past. Newbery medalist Virginia Hamilton creates a heart-pounding adventure with this absorbing classic for older readers. (Ages 9 to 12)

I posted this in another thread, but this topic is another good place for it. I would like to point out some common mistakes in data entries that people should watch for when updating their books. They are easy to miss if you are updating an existing listing. If you can think of any other commonly missed items, please list them. Thanks, everybody!

  • If the author's name is there twice, please remove the second instance, same with the title.
  • If either is in all caps or no caps, please change to initial caps (first letter capped of main words only).
  • If THE or AN  is at the end of the title, please move it to the front where it belongs.
  • Watch spelling and punctuation in the descriptions. It matters :)
  • Watch commas in the author's names, and last, first listings. Author's names should be 'first last' not 'last, first'
  • If the author's name is in the title it should be removed.
  • If an author has initials. There is to be a space between them. "J period space R period space Tolkien"
       J. R. Tolkien
       Not   J.R. Tolkien
  • Also, if you have multiple authors there should be a comma separating them.
  • Watch the year of publication. If it shows 2007, be sure the publication IS 2007, usually this is wrong and is the stupid system glitching, but if it happens, you will need to go find the correct publication date and change the date.

Description just added to the following book on my shelf:

From Cradle to Grave: The Short Lives and Strange Deaths of Marybeth Tinning's Nine Children by Joyce Egginton

"She drove a school bus in Schenectady, New York, waited on tables at a restaurant, and even worked as a nurse's aide at a pediatric ward.  But this seemingly normal working woman killed her own nine children--and avoided suspicion for more than a decade.

Now, investigative reporter Joyce Egginton delivers a startling glimpse into the mind of a mother who committed the unspeakable crime...the heart of a medical establishment that suspected nothing...and the soul of a community that ignored the terrible truth."

You have a nice selection too. Good collection of Stephen King, along with a sprinkling of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Poetry, True Crime, Humor, some Classics, and even a bit of Non-Fiction. Very nice. Hope your orders come regularly :)

Liberating Losses: When Death Brings Relief
Author: Chris McGonigle, Jennifer Elison

Subjects:
Health, Mind & Body >> Death & Grief
Other Versions: Paperback

ISBN-13: 9780738206370
ISBN-10: 0738206377
Publisher: Perseus Publishing
Pages: 288
Book Type: Hardcover

Book Description:
A wise and validating guide to coming to terms with feelings of relief when the world expects you to grieve.

When someone close to us dies, the world--our relatives, acquaintances, and society at large--expects us to grieve. Of course, as taboo as it is to admit or talk about, not every death brings with it overwhelming or exclusive sadness. Labeled a "nontraditional grief response" by therapists and counselors, a measure of relief or even happiness is far more common than the clinical description would have us believe. Sometimes we are relieved that our loved one is no longer suffering; at the other end of the spectrum, a death might finally free us of an abusive or unhappy relationship. In either case, feeling any measure of relief breeds guilt and, in turn, continued silence.

Jennifer Elison and Chris McGonigle have experienced the discomfort and shame of mixed relief firsthand. In this groundbreaking book, they share their own and others' stories, compassionate clinical analysis, and pragmatic counsel with other disenfranchised survivors. Shedding light on feelings that many deem insensitive, callous, or even strange, and suggesting ways to come to terms with them, Elison and McGonigle generously validate the reaction so many feel obliged to hide, ultimately relieving the corresponding guilt with which so many are burdened.

The war of Indian independence may have ended in 1947, but for a group of Indian journalists in an American news bureau in Delhi, it is still far from over 35 years later. Only Hari Rana, head of communications, aspiring reporter and unstoppable writer of letters on diverse subjects can bridge the gap between East and West. It's a mission that sends him to the heart of enemy territory: to the United States itself. What he finds there sends him home a very changed man. And this is what you get when you cross Candid with The Henry Root Letters: Give 'Em Hell Hari reminds us that a talented writer can mix politics and comedy and still stay miles ahead of the game.
