This is an excellent book that has many details that I stopped to reread parts. Clemmie as called by her friends is in for a life of excitement, fame and glamour. Her mother Lady Blanche barely made ends meet. Clemmie worked designing and sewing clothing before she married Winston. She had a sharp eye for fashion. Poor Clemmie although she loved Winston and he loved her , he was very impulsive with ideas and money .He would have been ruined had she not pulled back the strings. Clemmie often went away for a rest, Winston moved at a largely accelerated pace and he wore out Clemmie. AS she got older it was at the hospital and Electric shock for Clemmie's severe depression. The couple had 5 children, one died at 2 years old and the first 3 three did not turn out well.Only 1 child Mary was normal. I believe that Winston was bipolar and Clemmie severely depressed, so I believe that is why three children were mentally ill. This book is well worth reading. If you love people and history this is the book for you.
