I'm sure the life and fate of a clergyman's wife in Austen's world is as accurately as could be depicted here, but my romantic heart wanted so much more and better for Charlotte Collins. In this tale, she finally has a taste of love, but the situation was impossible, and ultimately this take on her story left me wholly unsatisfied, maybe even a bit depressed. Years ago, I read another version of Charlotte's life as Mrs. Collins, and I much preferred that outcome of Mr. Collins's death. No such luck here. 2.5 stars.
