This special work of fiction opened my eyes to alternatives to the mainline churches (especially Catholic). The concept of Pope as a prophet for the end times links better with the mystics such as Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross rather than the superficial, Left Behind series. Another book that asks very well "Why can't Christians get along?"
