Wonderful growing-up story written from the point-of-view of an African-American girl in 1960's Chicago
This is a great book. I recommend it to anyone. The characters are real, the text is descriptive and engaging, and you walk away glad you were introduced to these people.
A real fun read - funny coming of age story, and from page to page you just don't know what's coming next til you get there.
An easy read. There is a sequel but I wasn't interested enough to read it. Still, a good story. Well written.
I read this book years ago, but from what I can remember it was a great coming of age story that was beautifully written. The sequel was also awesome.
