Book Two of the Fritz Malone series by Richard Hawke continues delivering the promise Mr. Hawke made with the reader in Speak Of The Devil, the first book. Fritz Malone is a private detective with a past and lineage that provide him with ex-officio status among the police hierarchy. The bastard son of a prior, highly-respected Police Commissioner, he has access and respect from police officials far above that extended to your run of the mill P.I. Additionally, Fritz is a man's man, and his edges are rougher than you might at first expect. He's cerebral yet turns violent in a moment if such is necessary. I eagerly await Mr. Hawke's third Fritz Malone novel, as this may truly be an original character in a genre dominated by a stereotypical strain.

I did not really enjoy this book. It was too graphic in parts. Good escape reading but that is about it.
