This was the wrong place to try and enter the series (book 8). I was not already invested in the overarching story, didn't know who the secondary characters were, and found the feel of this book to be very soap opera. I liked the cowboy riding the range and the model hoping for a family. The evil stepmother plot felt a little forced and the fact that a very successful businessman was using the strategy of randomly digging holes across a huge ranch to find family treasure unbelievable.
