it *is* first-come, first-served -- whoever WLs a book first will be offered the first copy available. Sounds fair to me. :->

Hey now, I never said it wasn't fair, now did I? lol I merely stated I didn't like the way it was set up here as opposed to other places. I can say that, can't I? and it's only first come first serve to the Wishlist, not the book itself...if it even ever get posted. lol ^-^

Julie: I don't know if they're available in multiple-issues-bound-into-a-book format, but he might very well like the beginnings of the New Mutants title -- I first read them when I was 5-9 (when they were new), and loved 'em. They're set at Xavier's school, and involve a lot of young teenagers learning to cope with their powers.

Maybe there's an 'Essential' book for them?

If not, you could certainly look up volume 1 of almost any of the'Essential' books -- 'Essential Avengers', etc.

Julie,

The Young Avengers are a bit more teen than pre-teen there is some sexual reference between two of the main characters and there is a part of that series where characters dies (and then are brought back in classic Marvel fashion) but still dead none the less.

Also the New X-men isn't bad for the first few issues but gets pretty harsh later on again with deaths and serious violence.

You might be better  served with the Marvel Adventures titles they are geared more towards the 9-12 year range where the others are more teen to adult so the Adventures titles would be much less graphic. I did a search at Amazon and found titles for a number of different Marvel superhero groups. Here's the link to that search.

Like Eloise mentioned you might try some of the Essential's because those tend to be from the earlier runs of those titles and they are not as violent or graphic as the newer stories.

I'm a bit new here (I posted 1-9 of Naruto already) and I made a huge wishlist of manga.  You posting your books would be great!

I was wondering, how often does manga get posted? Like should I expect for my wishes to be granted, or is it more like once in a blue moon?

Some of the more popular series get posted quite often, others take a little while. Use the time you're waiting to get credits so you'll have them when your WL books come up.

Welcome to PBS! ^_^

Heya Perfidiouspal!  Welcome!  =)

When I first joined up, I thought that there was NO manga here, and I'd never get anything.  Was sorry I posted 12 mangas that were snapped up right away.  But...

after being on here for a little longer, you realize that there is manga posted every single day, usually near 5-10 volumes a day.  It is very popular, though, so definitely put all the books you want on your wishlist to get more success.  (Newly posted books to to wishlisted people first, before they are offered to the general membership.)  I have all 200 wishlist slots filled with manga wishes.  (Sometime soon in the future, they will be removing the 200-book limitation on the wishlist.)

Also, some cool people run a Manga Swap game every month in the Games Forum.  We basically get two books for our game buddy from their wish list, and they take two books off of our list to send to us.  So you get two books you want in exchange for sending out two books someone else wants.   No points used!  (Game costs 2 points to buy into to play, but you get them back once you've sent out your buddy their books.)  December's swap is already in progress, but I'll post to this forum when the January one is listed.

I've gotten a LOT of manga from PBS, and even hard to find specialized titles, like yaoi genre.  Be patient and you'll be rewarded.

Heyla Rory,

I'll do my best to give you a quick synopsis of House of M... It refers to a Marvel crossover/continuity wide storyline that involved an alternate reality that was brought into being by a schizophrenic Scarlet Witch were mutants were the rulers of the planet with Magneto being the Overlord of all. It was all reset back to the original timeline by Scarlet again later when she said "No more mutants" which resulted in there only being 198 mutants in the world as opposed to the thousands of mutants pre House of M. The powerless included her brother Pietro AKA Quicksilver.

If you need more info feel free to PM me. And I'll answer what I can. Or at least I'll try and direct to you someone who can answer you.

Trish

Thanks for your help Shaylinn. I know most of the X-Men characters. So It's an alternate universe. Interesting.

January manga swap is up and accepting game players.  http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=98149

The quick summary of how it works is:  You buddy 2 credits to game host, you are assigned a game buddy, you get two books for your game buddy off their wish list, they get two books for you off your wish list for you, when your books are received by your buddy you get your 2 credits back.

End of game, you have two wishlisted books you can now remove from your wishlist without spending credits, and you've made some new friends!

Is anyone wanting JLA or Outsiders (DC) GNs? I was thinking of posting some soon. Only a few are WL'd, the rest aren't.

ETA: Posted most of them already.

Heyla Rory,

Depending on what ones you have I might be interested in some. I read what I can from the local library but they don't always have all the GNs in a series.

And I'm sure that they won't last long even if they aren't WL'd I had one that wasn't WL and it only lasted on my shelf a week before it was taken.

I'm looking for Wolverine Origins, or any X-men graphic  novels.  Same with Batman.
