Consciousness Explained
Author: Daniel C. Dennett
Consciousness separates us from other animals and machines -- or does it? Can consciousness be scientifically reduced to chemical and mechanical processes? If so, where do morality, love, unhappiness, and joy fit in? Now the author of Brainstorms proposes an original model of consciousness based on new scientific fact and theory.

A somewhat dense and long explanation of Dennett's latest take on the philosophy of consciousness. Could be skimmed to get the meat of the idea, but does include a lot of recent research on the topic and is valuable for that.
