Hello,

I am so enjoying Patrick Taylor's 'Country Life" series and am on the next to last book.

I am looking for suggestions for other authors who have similar series.  I have read the James Herriot books.

Thank you.

Rebecca Shaw has a series about a small village in England with wonderful characters and interesting drama, the Barleybridge series.

I also enjoyed this author's other series but I can't think of the name of the series.  Check her out on Fantastic Fiction web site.

There is an old series by Flora Thompson. I think all 3 books in the series are gathered in a single volume Lark Rise to Candleford.

Barbara K., I love the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith.  The setting is Botswana.  The mysteries are are more about helping people solve their problems.  The characters will become your friends.  There are now 15 titles in the series.  The most recent came out last month.  Comfort reading at its best!

Sara Donati has a series you might like. Book 1 is titled Into the Wilderness.

The one that immediately comes to my mind is Miss Read.  She wrote two series set in small English villages...Thrush Green and Fairacre.  Those are books that definitely stay on my "keeper" pile.

I found Miss Read is as boring as a wet paper towel.  I yawned halfway through Thrush Green, and wall banged it.

I recommend the Father Tim series by Jan Karon.  Start with At Home In Mitford.  Wonderful country stories set a rural small town.
