This was mostly a fun book up until near the end. Then the author resorted to some strange tactics that left holes in the plot. I think that she was trying for a surprise ending, which I guess she achieved, in a rather strange way.
There was also one love scene where it reminds me of some old movies: The action is being described in some detail, and then a new paragraph starts, "Afterward" (or something like that) that is a jolt to the flow.
